Welcome,

Habitat for Humanity of Steele-Waseca Area is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner Families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving fund for the local affiliate that is used to build more houses.

Here you will find information on upcoming events, builds, as well as how to become a Partner Family.

Our 21st Home Dedication was January 10th, 2013!

We remodeled a home in New Richland, MN with partner family Brittania Panuska and daughter, Rylie.

The house was built in 1976. It was donated toBritt and Rylie - 21st Home Dedication Habitat for Humanity of Steele Waseca Area in 2011. The house had stood empty for some time as we awaited the perfect family for it. During this time the pipes had frozen and burst, flooding the entire first floor. All the old flooring had to be torn up and replaced. Luckily the cabinetry was salvageable. The project started in September, 2012 with dedication and closing in January, 2013. With modern updates and bringing everything up to code, this house looks like new and is now home to Britt and Rylie.

Thank you to all of the volunteers and donors that helped make the house a home for these young ladies!

Service area

Our service area includes all of Waseca and Steele Counties, and has a significant number of households (over 1,200) that live below the poverty level. The majority of these households are families in need of decent, affordable housing which is beyond their financial resources. Habitat seeks to meet this housing need by engaging those with the resources to partner with families in need of such security and safety.

We seek to work in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable housing who would not be able to afford such by conventional methods. To this end we seek to raise funds and other resources, develop resource partnerships, and recruit and train volunteers in an effort to fulfill this on-going need and ministry. As resources increase we will increase our annual home building capacity to meet the needs of more families. Our tithing of cash income helps build additional homes outside the United States.
