Habitat for Humanity’s home preservation is an extension of our core building program that follows the same basic criteria for selection: need, ability to pay and willingness to partner.

  • In addition to providing sweat equity in helping with the project, homeowners pay for the services provided through an affordable loan.
  • Services are available only to those who own and reside in the homes on which repairs are completed.

Home preservation services help preserve existing housing in communities and often help homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their homes.

  • Spruced-up homes contribute to overall neighborhood improvement.

Home preservation services allow Habitat for Humanity to serve the critical housing needs of more families.

  • The smaller projects help increase the number of people living in safe, decent, affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity’s home preservation repair work helps homeowners who may have difficulty maintaining the exterior of their home. Through these efforts, Habitat works with homeowners to preserve or restore the strength and stability of the place they call home. Home preservation projects also provide opportunities for younger volunteers to get involved in Habitat’s work.
